Hallux valgus interphalangeus (HVI) deformity is described as rare and largely neglected. A radiographic analysis of 285 pre-operative foot X-rays was conducted. We found a significant difference in the proportion of abnormal IPA in the Caucasian population. HVI contributes 37.9% of the total valgus deformity of the hallux (TVDH). HVI is a common entity. HVI and its surgical correction must be incorporated in management algorithms.
