MiRs are regulators of gene expression and biological processes and have recently been suggested as possible biomarkers for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) disease. We were able to identify several novel miRs found to be altered between AAA and controls. By combining several miRs with clinical covariates, we could further distinguish slow growing from fast growing AAA. Novel genes previously not linked to AAA are highlighted and deserve a focus in future studies.
