Pentamidine antagonizes the benznidazole's effect in vitro, and lacks of synergy in vivo: Implications about the polyamine transport as an anti-Trypanosoma cruzi target
Pentamidine antagonize the anti-T. cruzi effect benznidazole in isolated trypomastigotes and infected cells. Pentamidine lack of synergy with benznidazole in T. cruzi-infected mice. Pentamidine blocks the TcPAT12, but is unable to decrease the trypanothione levels. Overexpression of TcPAT12 doesn't modify the effect of pentamidine.
