In this study we find that APX1 gene knockout results in Pb tolerance in Arabidopsis. Enhanced Pb tolerance is mainly through activating the expression of the ATP-bind cassette (ABC)-type transporters. Our finding aids in the search for the mechanism of heavy metal detoxification and tolerance in plants.
