Novel pyrano[3,2-a]phenazine hybrid molecules were designed and synthesized. Biological evaluations of these compounds were determined both in vivo and in vitro. Antitumor mechanism of action was proposed to be multiple modes of action. Compound 1i was found to be a promising lead with excellent antitumor activities.
