Solubility of nutshells in ionic liquids is similar to other biomass sources (∼7%). Higher solubilities are obtained for chestnut shells in [emim][CH3CO2]. Higher cellulose and hemicellulose contents were obtained with peanut shells. >95% of the ionic liquid could be recovered in the process, with good purity.
