A hydroperoxo-rebound mechanism of alkane oxidation with hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by binuclear manganese(IV) complex in the presence of an acid with involvement of atmospheric dioxygen
A new mechanism is proposed for the alkane oxidation with H2O2. This very efficient oxidation is catalyzed by a binuclear Mn(IV) complex. In the absence of a small amount of added carboxylic acid the reaction does not occur. Reaction proceeds stereoselectively. Alkyl hydroperoxides are the main primary products.
