Susceptible vessel sign (SVS) is highly specific for presence of arterial occlusion on acute ischaemic stroke SWI series. The SVS is associated with larger infarct volume among consecutive stroke patients and the subset with arterial occlusion. Overall, identification of the SVS sign on acute phase ischemic stroke SWI heralds a poor prognosis.
