The suitability of Raman and infrared spectroscopy for the modern painting materials has been documented. Synthetic dyes and binders have been easily identified by portable Raman technique. This work is focused on the validation of the new handheld BRAVO Raman spectrometer. A non-invasive approach has been carried out to characterize modern painting materials.
