Arsenic extraction from soils via the dissolution of iron oxides was investigated. Oxalate extracted arsenic and iron from soils via ligand-promoted reaction. Ascorbate extracted arsenic and iron from soils via reductive reaction. Synergistic reaction greatly enhanced arsenic extraction from soils.
