ZnO nanorods-Au nanoparticles were synthesized by in-situ plasma sputtering method.

Influence of sputtering time on the formation of Au nanoparticles was studied.

It exhibited a strong electrocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of ascorbic acid and uric acid.

A portable and cheap approach for simultaneous detection of ascorbic acid and uric acid was developed.
