Continuous real-time measurements of aerosol scattering properties were investigated at Anantapur (14掳 62鈥?/sup>聽N, 77掳 65鈥?/sup>聽E, 331聽m聽asl), a semi-arid region in southern India for the period of January 2011-December 2011, using a three-wavelength Integrating Nephelometer. Aerosols scattering properties like the scattering coefficient (蟽sp), backscattering coefficient (蟽bsp), scattering 脜ngstrom exponent (脜), backscattering ratio (b位) and asymmetry parameter (g位) were measured for the period of study. The average values of (卤standard deviation) 蟽sp, 蟽bsp at 550聽nm (, ) and 脜(700/450) were found to be 97 (卤9.2) M聽m鈭? and 14 (卤0.93) M聽m鈭? and 1.02 (卤0.3), respectively. The estimated average values of b位 and g位 at 550聽nm from and were 0.13 (卤0.09) and 0.59 (卤0.1), respectively. The maximum asymmetry parameter at 550聽nm was found to be 0.63聽卤聽0.01 in the month of October and minimum (0.52聽卤聽0.03) during March, which shows the opposite trend with backscattering ratio. Significant correlation coefficients were noticed between different aerosol optical properties. The highest values of were observed during weekdays whereas low values during weekends. Scattering 脜ngstrom exponent for the summer and winter seasons has been consistent with the input of fine mode particles from anthropogenic origin.
