Using the activation-tagging method, the suppressor of bak1-2 (bak1-SUP1), showing elongated leaves, was screened out.

Bak1-SUP1 showed increased BR sensitivity.

The phenotypic changes in bak1-SUP1 result from the overexpression of miR172.

MiR172 also affects the early stages of vegetative growth.
