Both anxiety and depression were documented with a bias toward negative stimuli. Previous studies investigated this bias used emotional distracters that contained task- relevant features. We used task-irrelevant emotional distractors to examine this bias in anxiety and MDD. The distractors simultaneously presented task-relevant non-emotional information. Anxiety, but not MDD, was associated with an inherent negativity bias.
