Wild relatives have been barely used in eggplant breeding. Interspecific hybrids present variable pollen fertility and crossability with eggplant. First backcrosses have been obtained between eggplant and six wild relatives. New interspecific hybrids have been obtained with other four wild relatives. These materials will contribute to introgression breeding in eggplant.
