This paper firstly reported complete oxidation of HCHO into CO2 and H2O over Au/HZSM-5 and Au/SiO2 catalyst at room temperature. Treatment atmosphere exerts significant effects on the catalytic performance of Au/HZSM-5 and Au/SiO2 catalyst. Small Au particle size and strong metal-support interaction are essential for the high activity for HCHO oxidation over supported Au catalysts.
