Deep hydrogenation of furfural-acetone condensation adducts (F2A) over Pt catalysts.

Pt/Al2O3 catalysts is the most active and selective for tridecane formation.

Presence of basic sites lead to Csingle bondC bond cleavages.

Carbonaceous supports present poorer carbon balances because of strong adsorption.

Reaction network proposed and experimentally validated.
