文摘
In this study, the effects of Al2O3 nanopowder addition on microstructure, mechanical and corrosion properties of Fe-Al2O3 nanocomposites ball were investigated. The nanocomposites studied here contains 0, 10 and 20 vol.% of alumina nanoparticles. The powders were -milled for 12 h and compacted under cold pressure. The samples were sintered by microwave heating at 600 W and 15 min. Microstructure of samples was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The corrosion resistance of samples was evaluated by Tafel Polarization Technique in 3.5% NaCl solution and their wear was studied using the ball on disk test. The results show that distribution of alumina nanoparticles in the Fe matrix is uniform. Wear properties were improved as the amount of alumina nanoparticles increased. But the addition of Al2O3 nanopowder is not effective on the electrochemical corrosion resistance and microstructure of sintered samples.
