Open-cell phosphate-based geopolymer foams were fabricated for the first time. The foams have a homogeneous cellular morphology. After firing up to 1000 °C, the foams maintained their cellular architecture. They present different surface chemistry compared to alkali-based geopolymers. These foams could be an eco-friendly substitutes for highly porous materials.
