Highest CH4 was emitted from the pile experienced the wettest and coolest weather. Highest N2O came from the pile that underwent the driest and hottest weather. O2 and moisture contents in the compost windrow predicted GHG emissions. CH4 mitigation practices may reduce the overall GWP of composting. GHG emissions of composting account for 0.18% of total California emissions.
