We study repetitive elements inside flat oyster (Ostrea edulis) genome.
We perform the first analysis of transposable elements (TEs) in O. edulis.
Detected TEs were identified in other oyster species and were actively transcribed.
Tri- and tetranucleotide repeat motifs were the most abundant in O. edulis genome.
We develop 14 microsatellite loci mainly associated to genes.
