Beat gestures improve word recall in 3- to 5-year-old children

Children’s word recall improves when the target word is associated with a beat gesture. Preschool children benefit from beat gestures as multimodal markers of prominence. The presence of beat gestures in a target word does not improve the recall of adjacent words.
