Social feeding environment have the potential to impact the willingness to consume a novel feed. A low acceptance of a novel food (carrots) was observed in mature dairy cows. The acceptance of the novel food (carrots) by dairy cows improved slightly with length of exposure. Animals showed similar feeding behavioural patterns regardless of social feeding situation.
