BFI is an index of soil fertility composing 6 bio-chemical attributes of a given soil. The spatial distribution of the BFI was analyzed at 1079 soil samples in Italy. BFI is stable to changing compositional rules of the 6 bio-chemical attributes. BFI is a reliable multi-domain approach for soil fertility assessment. BFI is a robust indicator of soil fertility in Mediterranean countries.
