Benzothiazole, pyridine functionalized triphenylamine based fluorophore for solid state fluorescence switching, Fe3+ and picric acid sensing

We synthesized triphenylamine based fluorophore (BTP) which containing benzothiazole and vinyl pyridine as an acceptor. BTP exhibited excellent solid state luminescence and different responds to the external stimuli such as mechanical force, heating and acid vapour (acidochromism). The proton acceptor nature of pyridine nitrogen makes the fluorphore suitable for pH sensor in acidic region. In addition to that BTP is used in the colorimetric detection of Fe3+ in solution and solid state by cost effective method. Further, BTP used as a naked eye colorimetric sensor for picric acid.
