Berberine suppresses inflammatory cytokines in MSU crystal stimulated macrophages. Berberine counteracts the ROS generation in MSU crystal stimulated macrophages. Berberine attenuates the mRNA expression of inflammatory proteins. Berberine reduced paw edema and articular elastase in MSU crystal-induced rats. Berberine interacts strongly with ASC, NLRP3, pro-caspase 1 and Nrf2/Keap1.
