Daily operation optimisation of hybrid stand-alone system by model predictive control considering ageing model

Method for optimising the daily operation of photovoltaic-wind-diesel-battery systems. Weather forecasts of hourly wind speed, irradiation, temperature and load are used. Each day five control variables are optimised for the control of the system. Operating cost includes real ageing of the batteries and the diesel generator. Results show that the optimal control strategy used for each day led to cost savings.
