Surface-based morphometry asymmetries are unbiased for sulcal position differences between hemispheres. Structural asymmetries are characterized by concordant/opposite sites of cortical thickness and surface area asymmetries. Local correlation between cortical thickness and surface area asymmetries is a specific property of cerebral organization. Handedness does not modulate cortical asymmetries except in the Rolando's genu.
