We investigated the association of childhood infectious diseases and CIMT in youth.

With increasing number of different infectious diseases CIMT was significantly increased.

Larger effects in boys may relate to higher vulnerability of vasculature or to pathogens.

Our data suggest an early impact of childhood infectious diseases on vascular health.

Respiratory pathogens are possibly the drivers of the association.
