Critical plane criteria were used to estimate biaxial fatigue crack initiation angle.

Stress intensity factor and J integral values were calculated using FEA through the loading cycle.

Fatigue crack propagation angles were estimated for both specimens.

The loading phase shift angle does influence the crack propagation angle, as our results show.

Both specimens are useful for fatigue crack propagation studies.
