Microwave aqueous synthesis of hydroxyapatite bilayer coating on magnesium alloy for orthopedic application

HA bilayer coatings were synthesized on magnesium alloy under microwave irradiation. Cotton-like HA as the surface layer and strip-like HA as the bottom layer. A growth mechanism of HA bilayer coating under microwave irradiation was proposed. Large thickness and high mineralization capacity enhanced corrosion resistance. HA bilayer coating significantly promoted osteoblast proliferation.
