Standard kinetic models described methane production from biodegradation of PHBV. The Monod, Contois, and Gompertz models provided a good fit for this process. The Gompertz model is particularly useful due to goodness of fit and simplicity. Decreasing PHBV particle size below ∼0.8 mm changes the rate-limiting step in AD. At smaller particle sizes (<0.8 mm), more complex models are required.
