Benfotiamine benefited the glucose metabolism of M. amblycephala fed high-carbohydrate diets. It improved the glucose tolerance of fish fed a high-carbohydrate diet. It promoted the insulin synthesis and secretion of fish. It stimulated glycolysis, glycogenesis, lipogenesis and fatty acid oxidation, but depressed gluconeogenesis.
