BSFC values of biodiesel and biodiesel-oxygenated fuel blends were higher than those of pure diesel. Biodiesel emitted higher NOx and CO2 emissions, and lower CO and THC emissions than those of diesel fuel. Solketal and ethanol addition to biodiesel caused an increase in NOx emissions and provided lower CO2, CO and THC emissions. All test fuels showed similar cylinder pressure and heat release rate characteristics. Injection characteristics of the test engine influenced significantly by using diesel fuel and biodiesel.
