Species sensitive to human land use are often the first to suffer from habitat loss. We evaluated which traits in snakes were linked to sensitivity to human land use. Snakes that feed on vertebrates were sensitive to human land use. Aquatic snakes and those with small ranges were also sensitive to human land use. Our results can help prioritize preservation and monitoring of understudied species.
