Optimization of organosolv pretreatment of rice straw for enhanced biohydrogen production using Enterobacter aerogenes

Organosolv pretreatment was optimized to enhance biohydrogen production. The maximum hydrogen overall yield was 19.73 ml per each gram of dry rice straw. The glucose concentration at the optimum conditions was 4.22-fold of untreated straw. The hydrogen overall yield was strongly affected by the ethanol concentration. The amount of biohydrogen was estimated in the largest rice producing nations.
