Saponins from Saponaria officinalis may be an alternative to synthetic surfactants. Extract contains: gypsogenin, hederagenin, hydroxyhederagenin, quillaic acid aglycone. Saponaria extract shows no toxic impact on tested environmental bacterial strains. Influence of plants surfactant on biodegradation is correlated with genus of bacteria.
