Twenty seven components were identified in A. guinanensis leaves essential oil.

The essential oil was more effective than streptomycin against Staphylococcus aureus.

The essential oil caused bacterial membrane lysis, differing from streptomycin.

The essential oil caused leakage of bacteria intracellular electrolytes.

The low hemolysis (<1%) further suggested its potential as a safe preservative.
