We explore CO2 emission efficiency of China’s agricultural sector in this paper. We analyze the CO2 emission reduction potential and its two main contributors. The meta-frontier framework is adopted to demonstrate technology heterogeneities. The CO2 emission efficiency of the agricultural sector in the western region of China is the lowest.
