Alginate and mannuronan dialdehydes prepared by periodate oxidation (4 and 8% oxidation). Model peptide (methyl tyrosine ester) attached by reductive amination. Influence of substitution on alginate stability determined by SEC-MALS. Stability profiles reflect the distribution of peptide attachment at C2 or C3. Relevance to stability of alginate biomaterials discussed.
