The presence of modifiers and waste oxides led to localized de-vitrification. Ruthenium is encapsulated within the vitreous glass network as RuO2 crystals. Chromium is immobilized within the zincochromite spinel structure. Pitting and cracks induced by leaching did not affect the immobilization performance.
