The synthesis of a para-linked six aromatic rings viologen BPPV for the first time. BPPV forms a [2]pseudorotaxane with CB[6] and a final [3]pseudorotaxane with CB[7]. BPPV and the pseudorotaxanes all show reversible chemical-induced color changes.
