Quantifying source-sink relationships of rice under high night-time temperature combined with two nitrogen levels

A novel model approach is proposed to quantify source-sink relationships under different night-time temperature and nitrogen regimes in rice. Cultivars significantly differed in sink size in response to high night-time temperature. More nitrogen did not alleviate the high night-time temperature effect. Breeding programs should select for sink traits to improve tolerance to high night-time temperature in rice.
