The BSG biodegradability index increased via cavitation from 0.074 to 0.091. Solubilization of carbohydrates occurred with related monosaccharides release of 87%. Enhanced biodegradability was attributed to the physical cavitation effects. FT-IR/PAS analysis did not reveal the formation of new compounds via cavitation.
