Denitrifying methanotrophic bacteria were enriched from municipal wastewater sludge.
The maximum denitrification rate at 20 °C was similar to maximum rates at 30 °C.
After 1–2 years consumption rates decreased; the cause for this is unknown.
Results indicate higher rates may be achieved by addition of low amounts of copper.
Increased rates may also be achieved at shorter hydraulic retention times.
