Characterization of uranium neodymium oxide microspheres synthesized by internal gelation

Pure UO2 microspheres and U/Nd oxide particles with Nd contents (5–40%) were prepared by internal gelation.

Mass- and diameter-distributions were studied and particle densities were calculated.

The solid solutions of UO2 and Nd2O3 were investigated by SEM and XRD.

One cubic phase was found and lattice parameter calculations were performed.

The results depend linear on the Nd content up to ≈30%.
