We studied woodpecker foraging in areas with recent thins and prescribed burns.

Common substrates for foraging included cut stumps and trees <50 cm diameter.

Despite these unexpected foraging substrates, nest productivity was high.

This suggests that managed forests provide suitable foraging habitat for breeding.
