Heat Exchanger Network Synthesis without stream splits using parallelized and simplified simulated Annealing and Particle Swarm Optimization

A meta-heuristic approach for Heat Exchanger Network synthesis problem is proposed. The scheme is based on Simulated Annealing and Particle Swarm Optimization. The method uses parallel processing to search for solutions more efficiently. The method proved efficient in solving medium to large size HEN synthesis problems. It was able to find better solutions than the literature for benchmark problems.
