Social anxiety is related to detection of anger and disgust at low intensities. A′ sensitivity is affected in the absence of effects on B″ response criterion. Socially anxious individuals misinterpret “neutral” faces as angry. Social anxiety is related to reduced perception of “neutral” faces as happy or sad. No recognition deficits characterize social anxiety for non-ambiguous expressions.
