We have designed a low cost embedded device that would reduce the penalty billing of the consumers who fail to maintain the desired power factor.
The analysis is made keeping in mind the concern for those bulk consumers of electricity (i.e. 11 kV and downwards) in rural and sub-urban areas of India dealing varying load patterns.
Switching of shunt capacitor banks though economical but often fail to give satisfactory compensation for varying load patterns. Hence combination of shunt capacitor banks intelligently would give a better solution to this problem.
